Upper Ottawa Valley Genealogical GroupFamilySearch Affiliate LibraryThe Upper Ottawa Valley Genealogical Group is a FamilySearch affiliate libraries. This designation means library patrons have convenient access to the wealth of genealogical resources available through FamilySearch in Pembroke. FamilySearch is the world’s largest repository of genealogical records and manages the famous Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. It has amassed billions of births, marriage, death, census, land and court records of genealogical significance from over 130 countries. FamilySearch extends access to its collections by circulating microfilms of the historic records through Family History Centres and select libraries. The Upper Ottawa Valley Genealogical Group library is now one of these libraries. Researchers in the Valley previously had access to these films through the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints in Petawawa but this Family History Centre is no longer able to continue so the Upper Ottawa Valley Genealogical Group has stepped in to help researchers. Family researchers may search for films they may want by referring to the Family History Library Catalogue. These films are then ordered online and are sent to Pembroke. A charge for each film is paid online. The researcher will pay a shipping and handling fee to the U.O.V.G.G. when the film arrives in Pembroke.
