In Memorium - The UOVGG is sincerely sad to annouce the following three passings of current and former members of the UOVGG: On December 29 at the age of 79 years and 3 days Betty (Power) Almon-Felhaber,, passed away in Newfoundland . Until her final illness, Betty was the vice-chairperson for the current UOVGG Board of Directors. She was an active supporter of our DNA Special Interest Group. She is survived by a son, Bob Almon, and a daughter, Kelly Hall, and grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her step family, children and grandchildren of Raymond Felhaber. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for Betty will take place in the spring, date to be announced. Olga (Pelky) Lewis died in Renfrew on December 29, in her 87th year. She was a long-time UOVGG member and served on the Board of Directors for many years. Anyone doing research in our library will find many transcriptions completed by Olga. As befits an avid genealogist, Olga leaves five children, seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five 2x great-grandchildren. Spring interment Thomsonville Cementery. Jill (Smedley) Marks, died Sunday, January 7, in Ottawa. Jill grew up in Deep River, where she married McGregor (Greg) Mark and where they brought up their children, Sean and Amy. Jill was an enthusiastic member of the UOVGG Board in the past. There will be a celebration of her life on January 21, from 2 to 4 pm at the Bearís Den in Deep River. All are welcome.
The UOVGG will hold a General Meeting on Saturday, January 20, at 10:30 AM. Phil Lehman will give a talk on Christmas Shopping Nostalgia & History.

Please note that the UOVGG Special Interest Group (SIG) for DNA will resume regular meetings starting in January, 2018. The DNA SIG meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:00 PM in the UOVGG Library.
Please note that the UOVGG Special Interest Group (SIG) for FamilyTreeMaker will no longer be meeting as a formal SIG but requests for assistance can be made through the UOVGG Library.

The UOVGG Resource Library has added listings for FamilySearch Microfilms on permanent loan to the UOVGG Library from Salt Lake City, Utah. There is an Adobe pdf file available that shows all the microfilms that are in the UOVGG Library permanently now.
