FamilySearch is the world's largest repository of genealogical records and manages the famous Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. It has amassed over 1.5 billion names from family trees worldwide. They have more than 100 million pages of newspapers from 1739 to the present. Theirs is the largest index of tombstones and insrciptions with photos of the graves.
FamilySearch extends access to its collection by circulating microfilms of the historical records through Family History centers and select libraries.
The UOVGG library is one of these centers and offers the use of microfilm readers.
Family researchers may search for films they may want by referring to the Family History Library Catalogue.
These films are then ordered on line at film.familysearch.org and are sent to Pembroke. A charge for each film is paid online to FamilySearch by the researcher. The researcher will pay a shipping and handling fee to the U.O.V.G.G. when the film arrives in Pembroke.
The UOVGG also has some FamilySearch microfilms on permanent loan from Salt Lake City, Utah. For a listing of the microfilms available in the UOVGG Library, please refer to this Microfilms Listing or contact the UOVGG Librarian.
